I have been given a Ramon Allonnes Robusto as a freebee with some smokes. Anyone know what they are like? Reviews suggest somewhere between PGD4 and CoRo. If that's so they could be a good alternative to the more expensive CoRo.

Tommy .... E-mail and thank your vendor for the freebee and ask for the picking box date. A good vendor will have no issue in providing it.
IMO RASS are not that great new .... but brilliant after three or four years. If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

'Between Partagas & Cohiba' Well I had never thought of it like that before. Similar in strenght of flav to the Party's & classica line of Cohibas.
Here's a pic of a couple of RASS that I prepared earlier.Rass.2009.09.19.013.jpg One was from my Cab of 50, the other was a reasonably lightly box pressed example. I smoked one after the other to see if as expected the draw was easier on the cab cigar. Well no surprise it was slightly but it was enough to keep me on the Cab route. It's also said cigars age better in the cabs, I certianly think they look better.
BTW couldn't recommend a better beer to accompany a RASS than a Leffe Bruin.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

To me the Ramon Allones Specially Selected as its called is an excellent cigar.. though i have only had a couple from memory. I think I slightly prefer the smaller RASCC though.
Get it smoked and see what you think, a free Cigar always tastes better!Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

Will just walk by and concur with the consensus.
Also the non box pressed ones. I do enjoy those more.
But will say that if I didn't absolutely detest the Robusto size, i'd be all on these and the Epicure 2
