  • Trying out some NC

    Just got it today
The one held in hand is a special one which is blended with Latakia, type of pipe tobacco that has a very rich and smoky texture.

Interesting about the latakia in a cigar! Those Prensados should be good!

Recently I have heard of a Perique blended cigar and now a Latakia blend cigar. To me these have always been more about different curing techniques to create great pipe tobacco. It would be fascinating to see how the cigars are rolled and what the result is. I think we need a review!

(by the way - Durbar and Aperitif tobaccos are expected in May)
I'm sure there are greater things in life than a fine cigar ........... but right now I can't think what they might be.

definitely gonna write a review, probably along with some dunhill pipe tobacco review as well.
i have been looking for the perique blend cigar but didn't find it. also i think there are European cigar companies blend with virginias, gotta find them and give it a try.
Thanks again for the info, can't wait!

Sorry to go off topic but I just realised that there is or at least was a Dunhill blend called Marc's Mixture, given that I am a Dunhill loving pipe smoker called Marc it would be great if I could get hold of some. Is this long gone? Can it still be mixed?

If I remember correctly the review described it as 'meaty', not so sure about that.

Oh yeah! Some darker pipe tobaccos can taste like BBQ Steak.... It's lovely, honest.

dunhill says it has blended more than 10000(can't remember the exact, but its a ridiculous figure) blends for its customers, but nearly all of them are gone.
maybe that blend is specially blended for a guy called marc's? i don't think there are any blends in recent production called marc

Apparently it was blended by a guy called Marc Burrows who was or is one of the blenders for Dunhill.

just went for a research, you are damn right! i think it was the last productions of dunhill hand blended mixture, which disappeared in early 2000s i guess? this is actually what i have been really keen on when upon hearing the opening of 1a st james, the return of the hand blends, like baby bottom, 1167, mr alfred's own, etc!

All that we need to find out now is if the original recipes are anywhere to be found at Dunhill? Funny you should mention Baby's Bottom because that's another I had heard about!

I smoke the Flor de las Antillas by My Father's Cigars quite often since it was named Cigar Aficionado's cigar of the year last year. Never heard of it before that. I found that most times I really love them but once in awhile I find one that's a little stronger than they are normally. Sorry can't explain better than that but I like a mild cigar and that's what they mainly are to me.

I think you'll like them. Actually, I'm hoping that's what your photo is showing because I can't really read the label.

sorry about the terrible image quality, not sure what happen to it...
i just had one today and i have to admit, i find it quite strong comparing to cubans. the taste was quite good but there is just something missing. complexity, richness, body, flavor shift? i don't know, maybe it needs more time to settle. overall, i think its a good start, next up is the prensado churchill, looking forward to it
