  • A Box, Some Singles, A Humidor, Oh My!

Oh and two bottles of bourbon.
Not sure how my wallet allows this (including the fact that my BBRY stocks are down to 9 now.. Anyone else feeling the hit too, or is it just my stupid ass? ) but these purchases were just made:

IMG-20130724-00679.jpgIMG-20130724-00680.jpg New Humidor. Finally one that holds more than 100.. I've got like 4-5 of the small ones around and i should really sell off a few after i got this one.
Also got the Xikar beads box and Round Humidor. Comes with cigar Scissors.. can sharpen em when i can. Good reason to get scissors.. no?

IMG-20130724-00681.jpg Also got a cheap little desktop Humidor. 20 ct and matches my new glossy one too..

IMG-20130720-00668.jpg Four Roses Single Batch. Woodford Reserve.
Each great for the price of a cheap scotch but still can't match my Wild Turkey 12 YO..

IMG-20130720-00667.jpgIMG-20130720-00666.jpg The best for last. My final decision on your kind thoughts of THIS THREAD: LE 2009 Magnum 48s. 24 for me, 1 on the way to Sean (sheppsea?)
For $300, he also tossed in two Vegas Robinas and two Epicure #2s.. I like my friends

These are quite old actually. Too bad i'll never know what a youngling tastes like.... They also arrived with QUITE some white mould on them..... no matter! none near the foot!! Now as long as i don't give any of these away (as what i normally do when i get a box of 25)...........

I get the impression you're rather pleased with your purchase. Well so you should be; it all looks great.

I do love the Woodford Reserve. That oaky sweetness will go perfectly with those magnums.

It's so hard not to want to share those with friends though. I reckon I give a third of each box away every time. .

Keep 'em secret, keep 'em safe!!

Errrrr .... butternut .... two things mate.

      Get that mould off immediately.

Never, knowingly send a cigar to somebody that has had mould on it. You can wipe it off, but you can never guarantee getting rid of it 100%. Spores will hide along the glue lines of the wrapper spiral or under the band. Send it to someone and you're dropping a Trojan Horse into their humi. It's not done.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Well, who better to speak on mold than our own Senor TripleXXX. (You see, he's quite old and moldy, metaphorically speaking.)
What your sticks need are a few weeks recuperation in don TJ's massive unit. Problem is, no one actually knows where/if that unit exists (metaphysically speaking).

              Post a Picture Please!

Even if it's white mould mate?
If I recall correctly (from my thread on the white mould Monte Petit Tubos), white mould is completely harmless and can be whiped off without spot (like a trojan horse full of sunshine and rainbows). Green, blue, and black is to be watched out for and might sack your village..

Edit. On second glance. Could very well be bloom (plume?). The white spots are as tall as they are wide though.. There are a few of em and they look like small deformed pyramids...

White mould, Green mould, Flourescent Pink mould...nobody really gives a shit..
There are billions of mould spores floating about & none of us are smart enough to say what is what..
So I have to agree with Arf..it's not good form (and emminently stupid) to pass it on, whatever the intentions..
that I think is the gist of Arf's post..my apologies if I'm wrong..

Whilst I must concur with precautions, if the general consensus is that it's harmless, then, well, what's the (for lack of a better word) harm?

The white mould's something that's pretty easily confused with plume bloom (I could be confusing it with it right now). If it were truly a cause for alarm, wed all be up in arms everytime one of our higher humididied cigars grew a white spot.

What "general consensus" You said it was mould....Alex asked if it were mould or plume...no "general consensus" in that...

As for what "harm" it could do..well I think that's self explanatory...it spreads...
If you don't know enough to identify the difference then don't inflict your ignorance on anyone else..as I said bad form...

(Ahem...) If I may...I think what snrs. Puff-n-Stiff and TrippleXXX are trying to convey is that it's "bad form" to trade moldy or otherwise sick sticks with others, harmful or not. It's one thing to wipe a wee bit of mold off your own puros, but it's another to impose it on others.

It's sort of an etiquette thing, I suppose.

Now stop the debating and get on back to school, young hombre!

Maybe it's not mould or plume, maybe it's talc or anthrax

Confused by the mold issue now. If a cigar has mold its not a good idea to wipe it off and put in humi with other cigars. (understand not to pass them on to others)
