  • New in : Montecristo #2 from 1963(?)

Hey chaps. Tracked down another old box of smokes but this time from 1963 (I think). I'm amazed at the condition. Still have a lot of aroma...soft and silky too!

The code on the bottom is a H&F import code and according to an article Mitch wrote, I believe they're from September 1963. Anyone any thoughts on the dating?

Just for collecting....well, maybe smoke just one.

Aye - that's what I thought. It's perforated like a postage stamp...and much, much bigger than current seals

Is it just the bottom layer or is the box totally complete?

If somebody has smoked half of them, another couple going up in flames won't hurt!

These need disposing of safely and immediately Stevie. I have it from a good source that this particular cigar and vintage were heavily tainted with anthrax! My incineration plant awaits delivery

It's cliched, but nice haul mate

                            Very nice find Steve.

Interesting, how apart from a few small details, that 50 year old box is pretty much as you would buy one today. The smokes grabbed my attention, the point of the Piramide is sharper rolled than any I've on a Cuban, it's more in common with a lot of modern day NC.

The only downer on your find is me remembering I was 14 going on 15 when that box was stamped!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

..and I wasn't even thought of! It was the year my big brother was born

You're right about the shape though Tipp...very pointy compared to all current Cuban piramides that I've ever come across. The box is solid cedar too. Very thick and heavy
