I'm fairly new, so i thought id show you what has been in the humidor. As you can see smoked my way through a a couple of boxes of partagas d serie 4 (fantastic smoke no question about it!), ryj short churchills, and recently a switch to mostly dominican and some nicaraguan cigars - I buy what I can as and when from pretty much anywhere - i just make sure it has a good reputation and then hope I like it.

Sounds a good enough plan to me!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Another good way to find out what you like and you don't like is to buy samplers of both Cuban and non-Cuban cigars.

A fairly inexpensive way to try a large sample of cigars.

I agree. You get more variety with less commitment for the same price.

I almost always buy cigars in singles, simply cause there's no incentive at all to buy them in bulk instead (except of course you can track their authenticity and age - which means nothing anyway if you buy them from a certified source). All you get if you buy them in 10's, 25's or 50's is an extra wooden box to clutter up your home.

For example, i could buy ten single D4's from cgars for ?134.90, or a box of ten of them for ?135. To be honest, I'd rather have ,say for example, three D4's, a couple of P2's, four Boli No.1's and a Monte No.2 (though that's not necessarily the same combined price as the ten D4's). You save no money at all when you commit yourself to an entire box of the same cigar.

You do as you feel Tom, don't take any notice of old Nightygownzy!

Obviously 'Billy no Mates' has never been to a herf when cracking open a aged cab of Monte A's makes you an instant hero or a wedding where a box of Cohiba Sublimes takes the spotlight off the bride...
As for cluttering up your home, I've been buying boxes now for 35+ years & because you need to humidify cigars that has never been a problem.

If only I could get my whole house at a constant 65-65.....I'd clutter to the max....money allowing...

Aye I just love picking up a box, opening it up and the like, I've nothing against buying singles and boxes of three to try, but I do love picking up a box ;-)

I don't have the money for that kinda stuff. Besides, I pretty much don't know anyone else who smokes cigars, so even if i did bringing a box to an event would more likely make me a tobaccoholic.

In most cases it's actually cheaper to buy 10 singles of a cigar rather than a box of 10.

Depends which UK supplier you buy from or if you ask for the price match from CGars, and always ask for free shipping on any box of 10 or more, times are tight so be a tight arse

I wasn't taking the piss! You would get the same reaction with a box of ErdM lunch clubs..but IMHO in the long run you're better off buying boxes & cabs & swapping about amongst B'sOTL same result on variety ..

I never thought you were making fun, but sharing cigars around wouldn't get me too much of a reception personally. I just like to smoke my cigars and get as much of a variety at all ends of the flavour profile (as well as all ends of the price range lol), and then pick the few favourites.
