    These arrived yesterday. Yumyumyum

2 Rocky Patel Autumn Collection 2008 Salamon
    2 Camacho Corojo National
    5 Arturo Fuente Short Story
1 Arturo Fuente Best Seller Maduro

Love the short story, but I want to get some age on these so got to try and leave them alone. The best seller just looks and smells amazing with that dark wrapper.

Saw some good reviews of these Camachos so look forward to trying them.

The salamons were meant to be robustos but they were out of stock. Supplier kindly sent me these at no extra cost, but its not a size I'm fond of, so may be looking to trade them.

Nice haul! I'm also a big fan of the Short Story and I've heard good things about the Best Seller. Let us know how they smoke!

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

        Nice little group James.

Best Seller is great. I love Short Stories - bet you don't mange top age them to well. They'll be a good winter smoke when it is too cold to sit out with Churchill.

Like you and our friend senor mandownunder, I am a HUGE fan of the A. Fuente line. For my taste, it's the best NC line in terms of quality, consistency, and flavor (so what else is there? )

However, in my experieice, I have NEVER* had a NC that benefited from the art of aging - they are good/great from the go!

I have several NCs stored in my various humidors (don TJ won't let me store them anywhere NEAR his fine puros ) that are 15 years and older and the only one that I noticed an improvement from age was the old Teepee by Indian Tabac.

But give 'er a go and find out for yourself.

Hey el Perro! You forgot to recommend that the lad give the Hemingway Signature a go sometime!

TJ, I do have a Signature in my humi already, it may well get smoked tonight as I've got the house to myself

Meant to include the above in message, so why is it that NC's don't age well, surely tobacco is tobacco and although NC's are not as tasty have the same properties as Cubans.

I would say tobacco is not tobacco.

Had drinks last week with Pete Johnson (Tatuaje cigar fame) and he gave us some test cigars he is working with for his upcoming 10th anniversary release. We commented on the wrapper, it looked very Cuban. During the conversation he mentioned how far 'the seeds have come'. This, I think is very significant. It is one thing to import Cuban seed, it is another to allow the time for that seed to be bred and optimised for it's new environment. This takes generations.

If tobacco was tobacco CC's and NC's would taste the same, they don't. Terrior also plays a big part.

However I don't think we can definitely say all NC's don't age well, but probably correct for most.

                          Some interesting discussion here:

Cubans and Non-Cubans - Apples and Oranges IMHO.
