I Beg To Differ.

I've been enjoying these fine little puros long before senor Nic cut his teeth on his first, and from my experience, they aren't very smokable under a year - including those from a 2011 box that is resting comfortably in don TJ's massive unit.
Names Perro, el Perro, and I don't get around much anymore.
Hey el P! I've noticed you've been keeping a "soft profile" around these parts lately.
(Hurumph!) The only thing "soft" around here are your blu-balls!
Haha! Yet he keeps playin' with 'em!sigpicVaya con Dios, Amigos! - don TJ and the Coros

Ok, let me explain myself (not easy for old man BJ to understand sometimes).
I agree they benefit from a year or so resting but not convinced they benefit from much more.
I have some '98 fundis that are great.
I have some '06's fundis that are currently meh.
I have some '05 Robusto Extras that are flat but I have had '10s that were great.
I go through at least 12 Reyes a year and I am not convinced they are any better 3 years old that 1 year old.
I have a box of Robusto T's from '09 that are a bit flat compared to last year. They may come back but I am not convinced.
The Trini blend changed post-2002 and this is what I refer to as the 'modern' blend.
From my experience the current Trini blend is lovely young, creamy with subtle flavours but does not seem to age well in the first 7 years or so. It may be the case that they don't come round for 10 years-plus (like the 97-98's) but I doubt it as it is not the same blend. I will wait and see with my sticks but I do not have high hopes.
So for me the only marca I will smoke young is Trinidad.Originally posted by Simon BolivarLittle medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these

The Long and Winding Post!

Thanks for the toughts, mates. As the weather gets nicer, I spend more and more time outside with a fine puro. Also, my netbook is on the blink and I spent last week making a deposit in the Bank of Las Vegas - Sin City! But I still check in from time to time on my iPhone.

I make it a habit to save two stick from every box for aging purposes, and I have a few Triny Reyes going back to 2002 - or the "modern blend," as you say. So I'll spark one up someday and see if I agree.
Perro, el Perro
Hey el P! I never heard you say that.
(Hurumph!) Too busy playing with you soft blu-balls, no doubt!sigpicVaya con Dios, Amigos! - don TJ and the Coros

Hee-hee! Taking a little poetic license is all, senor lil'stick.
Actually, the oldest one I have in storage is Aug 2006. Too young to test the "modern blend" theory, I reckon.
Perro, el Perro
Hey el P! There's one in every crowd.
Haha! Or forum, as the case here!
(Ahem!) BOOBS! I wouldn't question the wisdon of Senor lil'stick!
