My First Cigars

Thought i would just share my very first Cuban cigar purchase that i had delivered last week.

Now this sounds strange but these tubed cigar's really are beautiful objects, cant quite put my finger on it, myabe its the specific colours/pattens but they look great. Also the smell, i have not smelt a proper Havana cigar before, and when i compare the scent to my last remaining Henry Wintermann well thats going straight for the bin. I smoked the Romeo on Sunday afternoon and what a wonderful taste, as an introduction to Cuban cigars it was so pleasant. Now my only complaint is i really wish it was not so cold at the moment lol. Im only allowed to smoke outside and i dont have a shed so was not brilliant, but at least it was dry and a little sunny. My only other problem was that my cigar went out quite a few times, i did not think there was much wind as i was sheltered from it, im guesing it must have been that it was about 0C/1C tempature wise, do you think this would have been the reason? Using matches was a bit of pain as i went through a few lol, im going to look into getting a jet lighter this week. Anywise what a great first smoke, here is to the rest and please nice warmer weather

Lol nothing quite so grand for my first smoke. Mine was sat in the back garden with coat,hat and scarf on and feeling rather cold but i did have a nice cup of Capuccino to go with it.

H. Upmanns are a great shout mate, perfect length and strength of smoke IMO, enjoy that nice selection!

No. It's because the ambient humidity outside was very high. Here in Southend it was 84.

Nice selection and they will taste a lot better when you can be a little more comfortable smokin' 'em!

Nice one mate, if memory serves then the Upmann CJ and the RyJ No2 were the first two tubos I bought.

If you're smoking outside and having problems with lighting/keeping lit then I heartily recommend picking up even a cheap jet flame lighter. I believe there is a current thread about that very topic. As Tipp says, it may well have been the humidity that was your undoing but making sure that the end of your cigar is well lit and evenly glowing (checked by blowing on the coal after lighting) will give you the best possible start to your smoke.

seem to remember that the Boli Nr3 tubos was amongst the first cigars I smoked - I remember it left me feeling very light-headed!

Yeah a Romeo #2 was my first Cuban too,from a no longer extant B&M on my doorstep.Great selection to get you on your way
