KDOT & Cohiba4. The Hoyo Churchill's that KDOT sent Cohiba4, when are they from etc. ? I have never seen the Churchill with that band. To my knowledge they always (since 60's anyway) have had the round style band, not the crown. Just suprised.

Kam - I wouldn't worry about the bands mate. I think we all know that Cuban QC sometimes leaves a lot to be desired....we had a post here a wee while ago where a 2008 box of RASS had a 2006 discontinued band on them....whatever is to hand I reckon
I had a box of Hoyo Particulares with a 47RG from 2002 (IIRC) which had the pointy band on them which goes to show they do get put on a 47RG ie churchill girth...

see for yourselfs
Pics as stated,
As mentioned previously Ive had the crown band on two occasions and never thought of it as a problem.
Plus these smoke great too, so the proof is ultimately in the smoking
crisis overted, case closed methinks... but comments are welcomeAttached FilesLast edited by HabanoSy; 19-01-2010, 08:19 PM.Lover of fine Cubans since 2006

This post will be a mix of recent acquisitions, I do not get around to taking pictures of things often but I had a special excuse to do so today....
First a couple of un-common smokes I obtained. On a recent day trip to Berlin (that cost 4p for flights) I obtained a couple of German RE Bolivars, the "fifth avenue" (5at Avenida). This is a double robusto (50x184). I also recently obtained an RE from the Lebanon. This is the Ramon Allones Phoenicios, a double robusto (54x164). Then a Trinidad robusto extra and a Cohiba siglo IV (old band) that Sautters currently have on special offer. Finally a Cohiba robustos, siglo VI and a Maduro 5 Genios obtained through a swap on these boards.
Next we have two NC's. The first an Ashton VSG for me to try as so many rate this cigar. Also a Rocky Patel sun grown, one of a pair that Jimmeh received in his stick a stick in. He likes it so much he wants me to try one to see if I want a box split!
My aunt from Florida arrived with us for a two week visit on Saturday. With her she kindly brought me twenty NUB's. Ten Habano and ten Cameroon. I purchased these when on offer on a website and had them sent to her to bring in her baggage, this saved hugely on postage. These sticks work out to cost me three dollars each. Five of each for me, five for Jimmeh.
Here are six other NUB's I obtained through various means so I can try the entire range. Two maduro, two Connecticut and two of the HUGE gauage Cameroon, one box pressed.
Now the reason I had to get the camera out today, a real result for me, but first a little back story.....
I commented to a few friends, both on here and in person, that I think it a little strange people spending seventy or eight pounds on branded ashtrays, money that could buy cigars. If that is was floats somebodies boat, great, but I cannot see the attraction myself. Do you get paid for advertising by Trinidad if you have a Trinidad ashtray? I am known to do stupid things, like purchasing a four hundred pound lighter, madness I know, but it is horse for courses, etc. I did get thinking though on what ashtray I would like and it reminded me of something my English grandfather had in his home when I visited as a kid. I remember a large shiny ashtray made from the piston head of a Rolls Royce Merlin engine. I only vaguely remembered it but knew that it was what I wanted, it was perfect for me. From an origin (Spitfire), topic (Battle of Britain) and history that really did float my boat. A little communication with family members allowed me to track it down (under a fridge at my uncles house it turned out). Well today I received it. I know I need to give it a good clean but it is in fabulous condition under the years of ash and grime. I include several pictures I took before I start to get it clean, but not madly so, I do not want it to look NEW.
Well I am a happy bunny. I think a few RyJ Churchill cigars will come to rest in this....
