amazingly ive seen worse, they were Nat shermans (silver n black band with some roman-esque illustrations on it) and they were probably the most boring, lack lustre smoke i've ever had, I bought 3 and all 3 were a whole lot of nothing
Would i be crazy and outrageous enough to say that I prefer getting bundles of NC's to cubans? The crazy brands, some brands ive seen look so 'independant' and 'crappy' (well that might be a bit harsh), it exalts the experience a bit more.
Of course, wait habanos dont kill me yet. I love a cuban, theyre superb! and most of the time kick an NC's ass. But for me, I love trying all the brands, much like a wine taster. I'd rather get a sampler of some crazy NC's than a box of a certain puro. There's so many NC's! Im loving exploring the brands, and I feel safe in the knowledge that if they are gonna be shit, they were dirt cheap.

No lad, I don't think you would be considered loco if you said that
Afterall, there are many more varieties of N/Cs available and new one's popping up all the time. And because the price is generally much less the fine Habanos, one can afford to sort through the bundles and bundles of N/Cs looking for that "diamond in the ruff!" A great way to discover the kinds (formats, flavors, fullness, etc.) of cigars you like and don't like.
Say it loud, you like non-cuban cigars and you're proud!

After much thought and a very short wait got my very first humidor today!
it's a very basic one for 50 sticks, bought from Humidoro through e-bay at a decent price. The hygrometer is frankly a bit crap, and a digital one is going to come next, but for the price I am not complaining. I am setting it up just now... just need a few sticks to fill it now .
Also got a book very plainly "Cigars" from Vahe Gerard from Amazon, which is actually 2 books, one a general introduction to cigars and Havanas and one which is a selection of the best cigars in the different formats. I had a 10 ? voucher and the book was only 13 with great reviews so I couldn't resist.
I only gave it a quick look and the "best of" part seems more interesting than the "general intro" one which looks very geared to French tastes, quite a lot more on bon ton and fashion than I need to keep interested . Anyobody else has this?
