New in the humidor today

cheers mate!!! my local (only) habanos specialist never seems to have the RASS and JL#2 in as singles, and i really wanted to try them, since most people seem to rave about them here! i mainly have PSD4's, RyJ short churchills and HdM epi #2's in my humidor, as well as the odd bolivar RC and monte petite edmundo! wanted to branch out and try some newbies!! next on the singles list is the VR famosos, h upmann Connoisseur No. 1 and the ERDM Choix Supreme!!! whatever i like i'll be buying a box of in the new year!!!

Regarding 'stuff arriving in today's post'.

I've just taken delivery of a lovely sweet smelling box of RyJ LE Dukes that Lee dub: coerced/brainwashed/arm-twisted me into buying from PE.

Can I now respectfully request that we ban the 'little bugger' from posting up details of similar unmissable deals in the future?
Reason being: I've just had to spend the last half hour trying to find new and ingenious ways of cramming addition sticks into an already creaking humi (and 'thank you', but no, I don't need any help in 'culling their number!).

Seriously though, order placed on December the 4th, shipped on the 7th and arrived on the 9th!! Awesome service (must've been transported on the bleedin' millennium falcon) and a great value.

First box of Partagas D4

Well friends my wife works with brought back the cigars they offerred to get while on holiday in Cuba. Unfortunately they did not make it to the Partagas factory and shop. They were staying at the Sandals resort and did not venture far. Anyway they did bring back a lovely box of 25 Partagas D4. I had given them a list of smaller cigars of various brands up to petit corona size as that the largest I have smoked to date. They could not find any of the cigars on my list at the cigar shop in the Sandals hotel but the shop assistant recomended the D4's.

I do have a couple of questions for you experts. Firstly the date on the box is Sep 09. When can I start smoking them? Is three months age enough to appreciate them.

Secondly there are two security labels on the left of the box, the original one and a smaller one over the first. Is this normal.

Thirdly I know these cigars are handmade but I expected them all to be exactly the same size. Some are slightly different diameters to the others. Is this normal

Has anyone any experience of visiting the Sandals hotel cigar shop, and is it a regular Casa del Habanos

The labels look all good to me and the double label is normal on new production. Looks like a lovely box of sticks. Slight size variation can occur so I wouldn't worry too much about this.

The D4's smoke well young and old (and realistically you are not going to age them for 2-3 years unless you already have a big collection). But they do need to acclimitise and recover from the travel period where they would not have been correctly humidified.

A month should be enough to try one but they will be better after 3 months.

RP 1992 seconds

I smoke quite a few of the RP 2nds (X-Outs) and find it very hard to distinguish between them and the 1sts. Great smokes for very little coin! Enjoy

Same here... Rocky 2nds are just like the real deal... the just didn't make the cut due to looks... sunspots etc... but smoke GREAT
