I am still trying to buy a few bits and pieces to get my humidor up to a reasonable level and to continue to to learn what i like, being fairly new to Cuban cigars.

I also want to let things age a bit ( for at least 6 months and preferably a year ) so its a bit frustrating buying things and having to put them away. In the mean time I have always got some NC to be getting on with.

These have just arrived, Montecristo Open Regata cigars, they look great but have had some mixed reviews, I thought I would give them some time in the humidor and see what they were like. Diplomaticos No. 2 cigars, I have recently bought some of these and have seen some very good reviews so I thought I would buy some more, I can see these as being a fixture in my humidor in the future.

Got some great service as always from Cgars, its always great when the postie arrives with a new parcel.

As you say, mixed reviews of the Open range, mostly when they were first released, with some age on them now I have heard they have improved, Dippy 2's are glorious

Even more frustrating, is that after your six months lay-away, you smoke those two Diplomaticos..... then realise how much you like them.... order some more.... and wait another six months before smoking those.

Much better to build up a "rolling stock" in your humidor by adding a few more each month (ah! bigger humidor needed )

See what I mean? Having a small limited amount of cigars is hard to handle, and as you say, frustating.

Or, as I and most of us do.

1. Have a small cadre of preferred vendors
2. Choose a cigar you want to buy/try.
3. E-mail one or all of the vendors and ask for date code on their singles picking box.
4. Buy from the one with the most advantageous date
5. Put in humi, wait a day or two .... and smoke!

I know what you mean, a second humidor has been ordered and once set up I will use this for my longer term storage, and the one I am using now will be for my regular smokes. Who says this is not addictive, to much to choose from.

Nothing quite as appealing to the eye as a line up of figurados. Tried the Monte Open Regata shortly after they were launched - at the time I thought they were foul things, but the positive reviews seem to be increasing each year (would be interested to hear your thoughts - maybe they simply weren't right for my palate, or maybe it was early season, young cigar, blues). The Dippys on the other hand... real gems: excellent choice of a brilliant cigar.
