  • M1F2R3's Resting Humidor - What's inside?

    Good evening all,

I've seen that some members have posted their humidors on here and I thought why not share mine? I must stress, the cigars that you're about to see are not to be smoked and I'll explain why. My plan is to purchase 3, 4 or 5 sticks of one particular cigar (depending on my funds) and to smoke one stick immediately, smoke one stick a year later to assess its progress and to put a good few years on my final stick(s).

So, here is my current list which I'll add to (I have documented the date of purchase and the actual age of the sticks):

    3x Cohiba Siglo I
    3x Vegas Robaina Famosos
    1x H Upmann Corona Junior
    1x Punch Coronation
    2x Montecristo No. 4
    3x H Upmann Magnum 46 (tubed)
    1x H Upmann Magnum 46 (not tubed)
1x Bolivar Coronas (Not touching this bad boy for a while)
8x Montecristo Puritos (Not ageing, I'll smoke these quickly)
15x Cohiba Minis (Again, quick smokes)

    DSC00605.jpg
This is my collection thus far, I expect to add some Partagas sticks soon.

NB, my current reading is at 73% (but the salt calibration test calculated that my hygrometer is -5%).

Thanks for looking at my first ever humi, it's small but it's getting there!

    Frederick.

Yep! I was going to mention that I'm buying a second, larger humi, I'll probably get one around Xmas time but in the mean time this humi is for ageing only

      Thanks for the comment!

        Some really nice ones there!!!

My humidor is about the same size as yours, and i have somehow managed to fill it so that i could literally fit maybe two or three more petit coronas without crushing them. I gotta figure out what to do with whatever cigars my mum has brought back from Germany for me.

By the looks of your relatively spacious humidor, i'm guessing you're at the point thinking "Yeah, this little humidor will be enough for me. How many could i possibly smoke?". But don't worry, give it a few months, that thought will go away. I stopped thinking that about a month ago

          Thanks mate!

Yep, you're right but this humi is primarily for the future. I will be investing in another one for "quick smokes" and this humi won't be touched for a few years, I love it when I get a routine going.

            Good luck with that, Amigo!

I've found that unless they're maintained in a sealed box or locked safely away in don TJ's massive unit, puros don't last too long around the Coro Clan!

            Perhaps you'll have better luck!

                Nice selection.

Might want a bigger humi before you think though.

I started off with a Humijar [now my overflow] and then quickly brought a 500+ cigar humi, which im already thinking might be a bit small! lol.

It's a slippery slope, I started with a 40 capacity humi, used to sit thinking I need something with room for another 50ish big sticks. Bought a 200 capacity humi which served me well, but as you can guess that filled all too fast.
So I took the grand step of getting a wine cooler. Fine you would think, lots of space in there. I took delivery in May and filled her up with empty boxes to aid humidity, the plan being every now and then I would swap an empty box for a full one, only problem is, when you know you have free space for boxes and you see a bargain .... well you just have to

Nice collection there, I'm doing the same type of thing as you with 5 packs when the new year kicks in

+1. Good start. But as TJ kinda hinted at ... I ain't gotta lot of faith in your plan either!

LOL. I have to agree with TJ. The theory and the actual seem to differ around cigars.

I always plan to keep a few boxes for "Special Times". The reality is that if they are smoking well, they are going to disappear in a short period of time.

Then again, maybe I just have no will power.

I'll prove you both wrong! If there's one thing I've always achieved it's proving people wrong, luckily I do also have a lot of will power
