Some of you may know what the Rolext Fastnet race is (as organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club). The RORC part may give the game away, of course - the Fastnet is one of the world's most famous offshore yacht races. It starts in Cowes and finishes in Plymouth, by way of Fastnet Rock off the south coast of Ireland and a couple of days of being battered in the Atlantic Ocean.
I was supposed to be taking part in this year's race, as the Navigator for a distinctly mid-table sort of entry. We are always keen to do well and be competitive, but acknowledge that the boat is a little on the cruisy side and try to enjoy the racing. Sadly though, after not much of the racing season had passed, I aggravated a knee injury I got whilst skiing in January. Bugger. As such, I'm sat in Plymouth, a little bit bored, waiting for my team to finish (probably sometime on Friday morning, having started on Sunday).
Anyway, the boat will never win line or class honours, but the crew do have a prize waiting for them - a box of RyJ Short Churchills (kindly paid for by the skipper). As I was re-tasked with tobacco acquisitions after retiring as Nav for the rest of the season, I thought I would share the bounty:

The Monte Sublimes is just an extra I added to the order - I seem to remember it being an awesome cigar (tried one at the LE evening JJF ran last year), so had to get another into my collection to try.
(PS. For those interested, the box date on the SCs is a respectable AST ABR 10).
