Smoked a sod load of cigars over the last week and a bit, didn't go anywhere, but just had a break from the internet etc.

Glad to have you back Dean; know what you mean about an internet break, try not to go online when I am on hols & it's very refreshing when you came back & catch up.

I get 2 and 3 day breaks from the internet quite often (email and everything) when I go away for work because I don't have a smart phone and often don't take my laptop... Apart from getting back to three days worth of emails it's quite refreshing not to feel people are constantly badgering you.

It depresses me that people get off the airplane itching to check the internet.

I had two weeks in Cuba with the kids over Easter, didn't take the lap top (first time in years I have been on holiday without it) smart phone doesn't work out there. It was bliss.
World is still turning now I am back, proper relaxed break.

I've just spent four days in the Pennines in Derbyshire with no Internet connection in my in-laws' house and a weak phone signal. I had to climb over the garden wall into the church cemetery to phone a mate. I'm into telecoms up to my neck and thought this lack of connection to the world beyond dry stone walls and tiny sheep was medieval.

I try to do without the web and gadgets but I'm not very good at going without. Webless Cuba I found very bizarre.

Whoa! I forgot about your beach trip. Can you send me an e-mail or Fb short summary? I'd like to know where you stayed and the +/- aspects of the trip.
I get asked about Cuba a LOT and value my friends' experiences as an alternative view. I think I may have stopped noticing things after so many trips so I actually did the entire Varadero trip on the top of the Big Red Bus last trip.
