Haha! A myth, one presumes, to make the Americans spend billions of dollars on pointless 'space programmes' whilst those pesky Ruskies merely pretended... Yet further proof (if indeed there is any already), if true, that the moon landing was faked. The President, having declared that the Americans would walk on the moon first had to save face when he realised he'd been duped. He couldn't have people knowing he'd fallen for a dirty Commie trick and wasted half the budget, so had to continue the farce...

Interesting theory...

Anyway, no good showing that link to my mother, she starts to have a mental breakdown at the mere thought of how vast space is... that would send her over the edge, I suspect...

Similar to the Russian "golf balls" that were listening stations, while the Yanks had to build bigger "golf balls" than the Russians and so it went on. Then when the cold war finished the Russian versions were empty. Again our clever American friends had been duped. But enough of that, but whilst were on the issue of Americans have a look at what a big pile of money looks like. You'll be amazed.
