  • New car for 2011...

I'm going to buy a new car this year (hopefully this month) HBTM HBTM !
I've narrowed it down to 2 contenders (I think!)

    Jaguar XKR S
    Audi R8 V10

Any experiences or opinions on these? it's a significant purchase for me & I fully intend to keep it for a longish while....

Clarkson reckons the R8 V10 is awesome.

Audi R8 imho, would be more reliable than the jag.

I've never driven the Jag but one of my colleagues has one and it's spent quite some time in the shop I believe.

I have driven the R8 though and it's a beast, both a fun and comfortable car to drive.

no contest, jaguar. expensive to run / maintain, but so is audi. the comfort factor alone will see you right. go for a test drive in both and see

I LOVE Jags but do not really have any passion of the current range. The Audi R8 V10 is an awesome piece of motoring engineering. I have no experience of that model but a good amount with a lot of the lower range. They are soulless but great engineering. The Jags have soul but questionable engineering. As much as an fashioned Brit as I am the R8 is a no-brainer for me.

At the minute I tend to agree, done the test drives & found the Audi a bit 'hard' - the same feeling I had with a earlier BMW...the Jag just seems to be that little bit less harsh.

as part of my job, i get to drive all these new car's off the ship when they arrive at belfast!!! the audi r8 is an awesome car to drive and look at, however, the jag is quite luxurious inside and feels 'right'!!! saying that, the jaguar XF is awesome, and (to me) more preferable than the XK!!!

this is quite subjective!!! both are great cars, smooth driving and luxurious!!! personally, i just felt more at ease and comfortable in the jag than the audi!!!

looks like you'll have to test both and make your own mind up........

if you're thinking about keeping the car for a long time, i'm not sure either car would be a good purchase!!! jags and audi's aren't known to keep their values too good (looking at the local paper's auto section, a 2006 jag xj can be had for around ?7K (roughly a third of it's initial value after 5 yrs) and a 2006 audi a6 can be had for ?4K........

anyway, best of luck........ you lucky b*****d!!! lol!!!

The R8 will keep value far better than the Jag, I am pretty confident of that but not an authority on that topic.

If you buy a Jag and it goes wrong you will find just how shit they are at aftersale customer care.

I drove a Coupe GT Audi as my company car for years in my view Audi is bomb proof.

If you were awaiting a Pagani Zonda then i would be shouting lucky bastard.

both good cars Puff i would go for the Audi as for the last 15 years i have only had German cars but as a sexy alternative what about a maserati quattroporte not sure of the price deference but should be in ball park?

Bought a Jag from Dunham & Haines in Luton many years ago & the service was superb, as for aftercare didn't need it as nothing went wrong!
Had use of my B in L's Audi A8 when he was unwell & I was running about for my sister...very nice car all round....but had an early 80E myself & ended up with arms like Popeye...
As for the Zonda, has anyone managed a road test without it breaking down - lucky would be selling it & pocketing the money...
