  • Cheesemonger

Cheese cropped up in a Deano one today.

    What are your favourite cheeses?

    Cheshire
Emmental - the stronger, the better
    Mature cheddars
    Sainsbury's Basics Cheddar (surprisingly tangy)
Gruyere - a good, stingy one
    A creamy Roquefort
    Anything brebis
Those artisanale home-made crottes of goat cheese that have been rolled in vine leaves and kicked about on the urine-sodden cowshed floors of isolated Pyrennean crofts. Sod Health and Safety. They're the business - and it's all in the animal piss.

    A Strong cheddar
    A rich Stilton
These are a few of my favourite things.

Bloody hell........nearly burst into song then.

Talking about urine Bryan.....isn't all the water on this planet derived from Dinosaur piss anyway?

Brie, especially with German salami on ciabatta, grilled.

I once impressed an ex-girlfriend's father by eating an entire brie in one sitting. I think he still misses me.

To be fair the French do have one of the widest selections of all things fromage but I can't help thinking that this is another foodie area where the Brits are a bit unfairly treated. Much as I like a bit of Brie with some crusty bread, surely a good Colston Basset Stilton and some crackers has to be the Daddy of all cheeses. Mmmmm, tasty!

Everything. I eat all foods. Easy to cook for.

Eat a lot of brie with red wine, and a lot of stilton with port. Probably why I'm on a diet.
