Rather have each of the original releases with that content as it was originally intended, but that will never be afforded.

anyway, some of coil's work (especially the later stuff, when thighpaulsandra of spiritualized and julian cope) is very like the dark side of the moog, especially the 'time machines', ANS, the remote viewer, musick to play in the dark vol 1 & 2....... deep analogue drones, airy sequencers, strange sounds.....

the last video is a cover of the 'are you being served?' theme tune, that was improvised at their last concert at dublin's city hall in october 2004 (2 weeks before jhonn balance died)!!! seems appropriate and fitting to play it now as a mark of respect for sleazy!!

I love Coil, glad to see others appreciating this music as well. What a mix of people there are on this board! Would you guys happen to be into Tangerine Dream as well?

Very sad to hear of Peter's death.

hey styler, i'm so glad to know there's another coil fan on this forum (see, we exist on all walks of life!! however, i never would've thought there's be coil fans on a cigar forum, lol)!!! sad times indeed!!! i'm glad i got to see coil live before balance's death and got to communicate with sleazy via email quite a few times before his death!!! what would be you fav coil record? did you check out any of sleazy's post-coil work (threshold houseboy's choir, soisong, x-tg)?

i'm into TD (and klaus schulze), only the period from 1970-75 (from electronic meditation to ricochet)!!! in fact, i love most kraut and prog from this time period....... one of my all time favourite synth records is michael hoenig's 'from the northern wastelands' (1977, i think)!!!

              take care mate,

rather surprised by your thoughts on this big_T!!! on amazon, at most they're approx ?20 per vol. on cd (with the exception of vol.9, which is ?50)!!! you've no probs paying ?85 per cigar (eg cohiba siglo VI gran reserva), why not ?20 for a cd you know you're gonna enjoy time and time again? unless you are talking about the vinyl editions......

yes, i have to agree!!! though the mighty pink floyd have a lot to answer for (klaus schulze and tangerine dream openly cite 'on the run' from 'dark side of the moon' as being a big influence on their electronic sound)!!! they simply expanded on it!!! also, tangerine dream circa 1969 were big time influenced by pink floyds space rock sound, especially saucerful of secrets and interstellar overdrive!!!

Peter was a couple of classes above me at school. Even back then he seemed to be once removed from reality.

It's really hard to pick a favourite Coil release, they are so mood dependant! I've not heard anything he's done other than Coil so I might have to check that out.

I like some of the later TD stuff as well, one of my favourite albums is Poland: The Warsaw Concert.

Oh, and Departure from the Northern Wastelands is fantastic. I love it while looking out over snowy landscapes and as it happens, we've got a foot or 6 of that right now

hey styler, i totally agree with you on everything!!!!

coil are 'mood dependent'!!! i normally listen to their later stuff late at night, especially musick to play in the dark 1&2, moon's milk (in 4 phases), time machines etc!! they seem to 'come alive' then (i'm sure you know what i mean, lol)!!! 'love's secret domain' has to be the ultimate psychedelic record!!! a few years ago, my friends and i played these records religiously when we sat in at weekends, perfect soundtracks for those 'hazy' nights spent shivering!!! as for sleazy's post-coil work, soisong is pretty good, not something you'd go to all the time!!! the threshold houseboys' choir material is so beautiful and strange (the form grows rampant dvd is so sublime & intense, check it out on youtube!! it's footage of the thai 'vegetarian' festival, too gorey & graphic to post a link here)!!! the re-tg & x-tg stuff is interesting, though i reckon it'll take a wee while to fully appreciate it......

as for tangerine dream, my favourite records have to be rubycon or richochet (reckon coil 'borrowed from these records for 'red birds', the second track off musick to play in the dark vol. 1)!

funny, i was playing michael hoenig's 'northern wastelands' today whilst looking out at the snow!!! great minds, eh? lol!!!
