I've contracted for the last 30yrs & over the last 10 have found the only time we could get away together was at Xmas & the New Year.
We've had some terrific times (we have no kids!) & enjoy being pampered.
I personally am against the commercialism at Xmas buy SWMBO loves all aspects.
I now get to choose when I go away & am stuck on the idea that Xmas on holiday is brill...help my Missus out! convince me otherwise
PS Where we have been going you can smoke anywhere you like 24/7....

Christmas for me is spent with my mum and dad... up late for a cooked breakfast.... a small daft present each and then we sit in front of the fire and watch movies all day.....

Oh... and christmas lunch.... Spaghetti Bolognese!

No decorations here apart from a small Itallian, clock work, wooden christmas tree which my mum brings with her.

Joined by the first lady (main squeeze) on boxing day.

It's so low stress it's wonderful.

We used to travel for Christmas for 10 years before we had kids, expensive time to travel but had a great time and never missed the commercialization and the telly.

Best moment was seeing a Father Christmas appear from the sea in a canoe in Kenya. Worst was a very bad case of food poisoning in Goa from a buffet on New Years Eve which stood out for about 2 hrs before we got to tuck in.

I am going to suggest a Drewmidorn X.mas to the family. Spag bol and Charlie & the chocolate factory, perfect.

Have considered eating out for the four of us on Christmas Day but the remaining food opportunities locally are either Berni Inn or Top Nonce.

By considering eating out, we realised how much we like spending Christmas Day preparing food for the table at home. I peel. That's my role.

Soon after we head to Derbyshire to spend a few days with ailing in-laws who are wonderful.

No travel for me, thanks. Christmas is all about staying in, just me and the love of my life, with endless Celebrations/Roses and The Wizard of Oz (which my wife invariably falls asleep in front of - a gallon of Buck's Fizz befor lunch does that to you ).

Unfortunately, I think this Christmas will be the family thing - read that as rushing around like a blue-arsed fly trying to fit in everyone so that we aren't favouring one set of parents over the other. Bod, I hate "Family Christmas"

I'm in retail so Xmas holidays are usually a hard fight to get but this year I'm off from the 24th to the 4th and intend to follow the exact pattern as prescribed by Whisk up above....food, films, sweeties and booze'n'smokes. Cannae wait

Just me,Susie and my two lovely weans....I think this will be the last year the wee one really believe in Santa as she's asking lots of questions...quite sad about this tbh

I hate the cold and short days. Christmas is just another party time really. I don't feel it's that special at all.
