  • What's your favourite Pre Cigar meal

I was telling Robusto the other day that I had a great experience selecting a cigar with Edward Sahakian at Davidoff in Jermyn Street London (this man could teach the world about customer service).

He was very particular to ask me what I had had for breakfast before selecting a cigar for us to smoke "in his office" at Franco's.

This set me to thinking...what do you like to eat before your favourite cigar.

For me it's a mushroom risotto, no desert mind, possibly a good strong cheddar and then into a stogie.

    And you?

    Excellent Question, Mr Nicwing,

What a great moment for you, mate!. Thanks for sharing.

I think the importance of matching the meal with the puro is ofter overlooked. But the impact of a proper/imporper selection is quite apparent.

For me, it's burritos, tacos, or pizza. Doesn't really matter, though; just something to do before getting to the best part - a fine habana puro!

Nicwing I think I would have to choose possible Italian food, pasta and salad with anice read wine, preferably outside in an early summer evening.

Indian food is by FAR my favourite food, but there's sooooo much flavour with indian especially if you get a hot dish that a decent cigar could possibly be somewhat wasted after that particualr meal?

For me, it would have to be a rare steak. Probably a very good quality rump steak.

Big hearty Beef Stew with a really good bottle of Red wine.....then a Havana 7 year old Rum to go with the cigar...

            Port

In days gone by I always enjoyed any kind of meal however a light starter Pate etc followed by a hearty protein main course then a sweet (anything). All gulped down with copuis amounts of wine. Finally ending up with a cheese board followed at a suitable interval by the Port. It is at this time that a well aged cigar comes into its own. Good relaxing surroundings, port, cigar and good company its what life is all about.

                Senor Stogiedog,

With a name like "Stogiedog" I would have thought you to be a hombre macho, but from your post on food choice, I think you are little more than a Nancy.
