Light V Mould - a debate please..

Hi, a question from me, I do not believe (as heard in other threads) that normal light,visible light that is: kills mould.
My views are:
Mould, a fungus survives on organic matter not photosynthesis.
UV light in high 'doses' can be used to kill bacteria which is not mould.
I have tried to make this as simplistic as possible so as not to bore people but would like a definitive answer from someone who can substantiate that answer.

Light will not kill mould. Ever see a "Light Steriliser" in a hospital? Nup. AutoClavs are used but cannot be used on cigars. Mould can grow in the Antarctic, the depths of the sea and in the most arid, sunny places. My 0.02C

I've looked into it, and although it did work. (ie the visible mold reduced and disappeared over time and no signs of mold coming back) it actually shouldn't of.

Maybe I got lucky? who knows.

UV does kill it though given enough time, the radiation from the wavelength alters the DNA of it.

I know of no reason why light in the visible spectrum would have any effect on mould.

UV has a proven track record against micro-organisms (info in the link below) but for it to have any effect of mould would require an extreme dose, probably involving several bulbs with mirrors to amplify the effect. I would therefore surmise that neither visible nor UV light is of any practical use to the cigar collector.
