Beer Nuts

I used to love Brannigans Beer Nuts, I believe they no longer make them, anyone know why ? Just not enough sales ?
Any other brands available in the UK ?
I see they still sell them in the USA are they similar ?
Also I have found recipes for the on the web, anyone tried making there own ?
In the recipe's I've seen they have the (husk) off. I'm sure Brannigans were left on !
