  • Winter smoking preparations

With it forecast to hit 0c tonight i guess winter is finally here and apparently in Europe it is going to be one of the coldest winter for 1000 years if you believe the forecasts but i always take them with a pinch of salt anyway.

Now apart from walking the dog which i do wrapped up in my big coat and thermals which i sadistically like, must be something about being toasty warm on the inside but inhaling freezing cold breaths and enjoying a nice cigar that warms you up along with a nip from a hip flask of course i either smoke on the decking or in the conservatory with the windows open. No matter if i have the heater on full blast you still get cold not moving around. Last year Mrs jibjob got us some slankets (blanket with sleeves) which are great for watching tv but aren't really warm enough for outside.

Now i've found a great little gadet call the selkbags or musucbag which are essentially just sleeping bags that fit you like a suit.

Has anyone tried one of these funky sleeping bags or have any tips for the cold that is going to set upon us?

.... Hibernation is the best I can come up with .... that or heading South!
If you want to, you can.

I want a 1x1m gazebo / stand up tent as a temp shelter until I get a nice new big shed next spring, we currently have a Tardis (don't ask, long story) which is going after the winter.

Coming out of the Tardis smoking a cigar does cause the neighbours some amusement though.

Smallest gazebo, I can find is 2x2m, there is a small section of our garden where a 1 or 1.5 m gazebo type thing would fit like a dream.

              Anyone got any ideas?

I nominate Mr Ruddell as "Geek of the Forum" purely for having a tardis in his garden!

I was looking at getting a musucbag for the missus as she always complains of being cold.

They do indeed. Can't go wrong with the Tauntaun.

I was planning to spend the long winter nights wrapped up in this snug little number!
5 miles, that wasn't a run that was deportation!

I'm still a big fan of the beer garden myself -- pressing the button every 5mins to switch heater back on! never gets old

Plus a few swift bourbons before going home doesn't harm anyone
