Garden Gazebo Smoking Lounge

I've seen people using tents for some shelter from the wind & rain, so thought I'd check on the feasibility of getting my 6x3m gazebo set up on our deck.



I use it for my business mainly, but as it has sides with windows & a door I thought it might look the part blocking our kitchen window to the garden. I'm not sure the wife will agree mind...

I think it's plenty big enough to cover the garden table & chairs, so that some form of creature comfort to start with. Possible need the addition of some lighting and an IR heat lamp of some sort depending on the temperature. It's not going to be as airtight as a summer house or shed, but it's not as permanent or expensive either.

I'll hopefully update with some pictures once I have convinced the wife it's better than me smoking inside 😂

I've got some ground screws and ratchet straps to tether it down, but agree, some winds are pretty wild. Worst case it comes down in a matter of minutes

Brave choice for winter, looks better for Summer showers ect. But good luck & lets see some pic's of you herfing when it's set up.

I went for a 6mx3m framed version screwed into a deck three or four years back (for eating rather than cigars). I was optimistic about keeping it out over winter. Got green and gungy (trees mainly) so had to replace twice annually. My rule of thumb was furl the canvas (I didn't have the realistic option of a quick 'demolition') if winds above 40mph forecast - above that the neighbours inherited it!

Although this would offer some temporary accommodation to fire up a cigar more often, the recent weather has made me question whether it would indeed stay grounded.... or become an expensive decoration for a neighbours garden.

Even if it was put up, I don't think I'd be able to really relax enough to enjoy smoking. So....i have started laying the seed for a garden room which will have multiple uses. As the kids grow it will be a great place for them to enjoy spending time with friends watching films etc, the Mrs might use it for an office, but the underlying function will be that of a smoking lounge.


It would need proper ventilation (apart from the windows) to be able to accommodate me (either extraction or air purifier (or both)) so may well start another thread for the build as & when it comes to fruition.

With most things I like to try to analyse every fine detail before making a decision, so advice is welcomed in the lead up to it all kicking off.

I'm on my second cabin, rest assured it will become yours alone because however much extraction or purification you use it will always smell of cigar smoke as will all of its contents.
