  • Budget 2024

Budget is almost here. 30 October.

Talk is of rises in CGT, inheritance, employers NI contribution tax. Reducing tax relief on pension contributions.

Will tobacco, alcohol, fuel duties be hiked?

There are also rumors going around that qdo may be the next cc brand to be given the Habanos make over soon on top of any duty increases...

    Wyatt do you think?

    Let's see.....

Can't see this Government doing anything other than attempting to curtail anything that involves people enjoying themselves so tobacco and alcohol duty will definitely go up I'd say. Stock up now or buy from the for sale thread on here (especially mine ).

Marketing QdO alongside Cohiba and Trinidad? Such a crazy idea, no way Habanos could do a thing as daft as that, could they?

My gambling shares endured a brutal hammering on the expected taxes for the sector. Labour will be going full fun police I suspect.

Nothing like screwing the little fun we have while all the super rich continue to experience the greatest wealth transfer in history

I'm guessing they'll introduce a premier qdo line like RyJ, MC, Partagas. They'll probably also hike the regular production lines a fair chunk...

          Duty from alcohol yoy

I doubt they'll increase beer duties as that's “a working man's drink”. Spirits and tobacco they're fat cats vices.

Oh I know cigarettes are a working man's vice. But the lefty fun police have jumped on Sunak's bandwagon and decreed Tobacco to be public enemy number one.

And don't get me started on electric vehicles. Save the planet and encourage child labour exploitation in Africa to extract the cobalt every vehicle needs.

And anyway, I for one am having a rethink on EVs. A friend of mine (not a forum member) has got a couple of top of the end ones - a Jag and a Porsche. He says they look great, as fast as you like and, of course economical. In fact, the only problem he's found is if you push them too hard into a corner they fly off the track and disappear under the sofa...

Be interested to see these adjusted for volumes since obviously these annual total 'takes' will combine rate increases and increases in amounts bought.
