  • The end of the herf as we know it?

Some of us make the effort to get together for a herf and the favoured location is usually a pub garden somewhere. I know the Mail Online is not everyone's favourite news source but according to a leaked report from Westminster the government is planning to ban outdoor smoking in pub gardens as well as other locations. Before we all start berating Labour this was apparently proposed by Rishi under his plans to extinguish smoking in the UK. I love to smoke outside coffee shops and that will certainly be banned too. Guess we'll all be hosting herfs in our gardens next year.

It was mentioned on the BBC Breakfast show this morning, obviously Pub Gardens, alerted me. Can see it coming in because the people passing the laws don't use these facilities or own pubs. The initial smoking ban resulted in thousands of pubs closing & banning them from smoking outside will close more. It's in the open air FFS nothing to do with cancer or other illness, just kill joys. The bigger smokers are the bigger drinkers & will end up doing both at home, in front of the kids. Compared with the 6million UK Smokers left, I think they should be doing more to ban flavours in vapes, obviously aimed at children, like alcohol pops was to attract youngsters, who didn't really like the taste of alcohol.

Looks like my investment in my very own Cigar Lounge, wasn't so crazy after all!

Smoking will eventually be banned everywhere. What irks me the most is the dictatorship. Eg as cigar smokers we should be able to have our own private members smoking club. We are all consenting adults and have free will.

Like they do in Manhattan, you can't smoke in public parks or within 100 feet of doorways like offices and hotels but they still have cigar lounges like Club Macanudo

If this really happens I hope it will lead to more smoking 'lounges', but can't see that either what with the price of cigars continually on the rise

The state continues its push, getting more and more intrusive in the name of 'health' or 'safety'. I'm always mindful of where I sit when I'm smoking in a pub garden, why can't they just leave things be.
As is said above I see vapes as a bigger problem (true, I am biased) but they're everywhere and without warning you find yourself enveloped in a big plume of exhaled vape. At least with cigars / cigarettes there's normally a visual indication and smoke which allows people to avoid it. The idea that they're not as bad as tobacco has people using them everywhere - I've seen people on planes, on buses, on trains and in stadiums (bloke in front of me last weekend) using them without care.
