Yes satch the machine has settings for leather.
It would not work on a curved surface though,
you could give me a bit of flat leather that you could some how stich or glue onto your seat this would work.
Could you technically laser etc the cigar band of a nub onto a nice piece of hardwood, effectively making a wooden nub, which I could then stain (my previous job) to make a nice polished wooden display nub of say the size of 2 cans of coke on top of each other?
Bop the cost to BOTL would be P&P and perhaps a little smoke for me (and David) to sweeten the deal! I would be able to add your UK cigar forums name onto the design if David did not mind and I have a suitable font. David is the graphic designer though I'm just a workshop grunt who prints out his superb design.
Lee the laser cutter does have a rotary fixture which allows you to etch on to cylinders. The laser is not very good at doing very detailed pictures but if the band had a very bold black and white image on it it might work. PM me or better still David (if he does not mind) with some design ideas. If the laser did not work I would have to put it on the router which also has a rotary attachment (4th axis) on it and machine the design in that way with a 1mm dia ball nose cutter.
Lee cost still the same obviously you would have to supply the materials (wood) but just P&P, might need a couple of cigars each for David and I for a project this big!
Poo the lase has settings for metals but I have never tried etching on to stainless steel before. I would be happy to try for you though.
Rich, I have found a wood turning supplier, who can supply turning blanks in all sorts of timbers. He has some 7inch by 4 inch oak blanks. Could something like that be lathe turned into a nub shape? Then possibly have the nub band etched onto it?
Sorry for all the questions, I will make sure you are sorted in the cigar department
Thanks for the offer for splitting the spoils, maybe I can do a super duper customised (I want to work on an 'antiqued' effect version tommorow.) Rich Girling version for all your efforts?
Here's an inverted version, but I could do a partially (by component. i.e just the skull/lighter etc) inverted version, or anything you like.

And the reason you shouldn't post at 3 in the morning is.......
loads of tiny hairline flaws in the logo reversal, not visible in positive, sorry chaps.
New improved, lower calorie vers attached.
Think the Xikar cutter might work better in positive, with all the other elements in positive? If so just scream/PM/mail.
Today I will be mostly pottering around the house, smoking stogies, drinking coffee and faffing around with a couple of non profit designs including this one.
Liking the Laser work!
Can you do tattoos with that
Now on episode 6 of series 2 of SOA, and with 3 eps of series 5 poor old Dexter all q'ed up and ignored.
