So an update to amuse & warn any that think 20" Split rims are attractive enough to justify the ongoing costs! The good news is that my Independant Jag garage fixed my Wiper issue today. They have half a dozen 4lt XK8's in their yard, that they rob for spares & lucky for me they found one with a working wiper unit & rods so they only charged my £50 for the part, as mine could not be fixed & with labour, total £285. This I will be trying to claim under my warranty, I'll update you on that later but not getting too hopefully as they never got back to my garage to discuss it, despite several calls.
New problem, the Driver side front tyre looked a little flat so I went to the Shell garage & for only £1.50 for air!!! Found the PSI was 7! Re-inflated to 30PSI & 4 days later it was back to 20. Took it to my tyre garage & it took them an hour to find the problem, leaking on the inside rim of the 20" split rim. The guy hadn't tried there before as he's never seen a leak there. They couldn't deal with it but recommended a performance garage, they thought could. Took it there, he took the wheel off again & found it but he thinks the wheel has to be split but that takes specialist tools, which he doesn't have but he know a company that do, Ferndown Wheel specialists.
Called them & booked in next week but they don't think they can do the work within a week, so we can go to Belgium in it. Which will be a bummer as I changed the Euro insurance cover from the XF to the XK8 & will have to change it back again. Lets see what they say on Monday.

I guess for some, half the fun in classic car ownership is keeping the bloody thing running
Good luck Simon. It was probably a part ex from someone who didn't want to deal with these issues. Hopefully once they're sorted you'll get some fun out of it.

With it down to 7psi I'd see if they are able to check the condition of the tyre. Driving with it so low could have damaged the side wall badly.
Also, look for a portable tyre inflator on Amazon (or similar) to keep in the car. Very handy and it will pay for itself in no time
Something like this..
