  • Completely nothing to do with cigars

So I was cutting the overgrown brambles in the back of my garden and as I was cutting them I saw a nest start to fall I caught the nest with 4 eggs inside.

I have placed the nest in roughly the same position where I saw it fall and tried to give it some cover.

My question is what do I do with it if the parents don't return?

      Scrambled, poached or fried?

In all seriousness though, I'd probably contact RSPB for advice. You'd probably need to do it straight away in case the parents don't return.

Thanks for that. So after being on the phone for the best part of an hour with RSPB trying to get some info or help I basically have done the right thing putting it back and giving it some cover but the mother may still reject the nest/eggs if I go out tonight about 9pm and the mother isn't there I have to feel the temp of eggs if warm they are ok if cold they are dead 😕

Were you using an eye phone?

Great news and good work Drewster. This has been a bit like our own Springwatch.

Happy to provide some drama and suspense and I'm happy that the nest is undamaged and being cared for

I think you should become honorary guardian or step father to this brood of chicks when they're born Drewster.
