  • THe Queen is Dead, long live the KIng.

Pretty good way to go; get the Jubilee in, welcome your 15th Prime Minister & pass away with peacefully, with some of your family. I am proud to have served The Boss for 12yrs & I don't think it's a sad day but surely a momentous one. I can't smoke tonight but I am splicing the mainbrace, for both the passing of the Queen & the toasting the new King. Sure I'll find something suitable to smoke tomorrow.

THe closest I came to Meeting the Queen was when the Invincible returned from hte Falklands & hte family came down to welcome back Andrew, I managed to photograph Phillip kissing his wife, a rare public display of affection.

    Anyone actually meet her?

In the early 90s I was living in a shared house and came back to a message for me to call Liz. Bit confused who Liz might be but called. After trying to explain to the person who answered that I had been left a message by Liz to call her, I was asked how I got this number. They explained that they were the Queen’s Private Secretary and clearly I was the subject of a joke.!
Guys I was living with were all falling about laughing in the next room 🤣
No meeting but my only Queen related story.

I was one of six or eight people in the first recieving line of the Golden Jubillee day in 2002 (cos of some work I was doing at the time). Lovely smile from her (all remark on that) and usual 'who the f**k are you?' look from him. I do remember getting a hair cut that morning specially!!
