i've read papers on it from my local universities and only found one solid one online by the Canadian Health Organisation.

    Smoking 1-2 cigars a day:
it claims that you are 1% less likely to get lung cancer than if you didn't smoke and 650% more likely to get mouth cancer if you do smoke. esophogeal is around 300% and those are really the only ones one should worry about. Of course, give it a 5-10% inaccuracy.
I just enjoy twisting the facts a TAD to make it seem like my odds of lung cancer goes down

Anyone who would like references, simple PM would work

And at the end of the day it all comes down to your genes. Like the last US veteran of the First World War who died last year and smoked four cigars a day and put bourbon in his coffee. Bet he inhaled too!

Try working down a mine for 40 years and in a pot bank for around 80!, smoking 60-80 fags a day for 70 odd years and living till your 96.

That was my great grandfather, started in the pottery kilns (very dirty job) at 13, had two jobs for a huge chunk of his life (The coal face will destroy your lungs quicker than any tobacco, but they chain smoked and snuffed just to overcome the taste of coal dust). Smoked like a chimney and eventually retired at 94 from the same pot bank which was now a working museum and he was literally a working exhibit, still walking 4 miles there and back around 4 days a week!

The year after he officially retired he walked over 100 miles in under 5 days down the Trent and Mersey canal for charity, I was 7 and walked with him.... He never missed a beat

Like I said, its all to do with genes, whether you're susceptible or not. I guess its the lucky few that aren't.

Simon: i'll find it for you soon.

VTG: that's an amazing little tale . 96 and still drumming up footsteps is already impressive. But add on the ash of nearly 150-200 cigarettes a day!?!
