  • UV filter for window?

Morning , been asked by my Night Medic, if anyone can suggest a UV filter for the glass top of his large glass fronted humi, & or for the windows of his smoking room. So he can still see his cigars but not have them fade in the sunlight.

might be worth looking into some of the good quality PPF paint protection films used on car and bikes etc...as far as i know, they claim to protect the paint from uv. Other than that i can't help much im afraid.

I've got light reflective film on my cabin windows for just that purpose.

I might be wrong, but I am fairly sure that normal glass filters out UV light anyway.

UVB is blocked by glass but UVA passes through relatively unimpeded. It's UVA that causes the fading of colours. Old Bolivar and RyJ boxes are the worst as red seems to be affected much more than other colours
Apart from cigars, never let sunlight land on your books, LPs, CDs....
I've had bottles of spirits fade completely to clear colour in the past.
I've even got a bottle of methylated spirits in my shed that's completely clear because I left it on the window sill for ages

Hi PJ, that sounds like that film would cover it, can you please send a link to the version you use & I'll fwd it to him.
