I moved into my house November 2020 and the lawn was massively neglected. More weeds than anything (dandelions... just kill them on site).

I've tried weed and feed in a previous property to no avail. So this time opted for the nuclear option of spraying them with stump killer and dealing with the patches afterwards.

I've also cut flower beds into what was the bare lawn, just to try and reduce the amount of lawn I need to fix. Seems easier to manage that way and much more attractive. I actually quite enjoyed my introduction to gardening and all the trips to the garden centre to pick out the things I fancy.

I like to see my lawn being used by birds to get worms etc for their chick's, got plants/flowers for the bees as well. Now getting a hedgehog in the garden for the first time in 15 years 👌

Reseeded the lawn last year, got the seeds from grass people and it was great. This year I've ended up with moss and time to get the iron sulphate and weed killer out.. maybe tomorrow.

Got some spring bulbs last year which have come out nicely in the borders this time round.

I'll be due a trip to the wholesalers in the next few weeks to get some summer plants in the ground

Fighting the weeds is hard work all year round and that keeps me busy picking them out every week.

If you can get nice thick grass, there’s less place for the weeds to grow from…that was my mission and while getting there was traumatic, the result has been worth it. Minimal weeds really!
