Seems that a law is expected to be enacted which will see the banning of tobacco sales to anyone born after 2008 as a way to phase out all smoking.
Tip of the iceberg?
There are so many other ways to handle smoking than to ban it. Why not make smokers pay a premium on their health coverage if it is the cost of care that is the issue? I could understand that. It gives people the freedom to choose. If i want to kill myself with cohibas that is up to me. All this will do is create a huge black market.
I doubt they will try and do the same to alcohol though. Same argument. Same issues. Different inconsistent policies because ipa and scotch is cool and smoking isnt.
Gotta hope the tax revenue they take will stop them from going nuclear on ciggies, altho we all know cigars and cigs should be treated very differently, esp as recent prices make smoking cigars impossible for 95% of teens.
