  • Band rehearsal

We're preparing versions of these two tracks and rehearsed them for the first time today in the band.

I'm pleased to be doing something quality blues-y, and also something very sweet. A very productive morning.

      Robusto,

Happy to hear you had a productive day with your band. I'm intrigued by your band posts and a bit envious. In played in a band back in the 60s, starting with the Beatles, then Mo-Town/Soul became popular, and finished with a mixture of rock, soul, and Psychadelic, depending on where we played, before we broke up. Some of the best days of my life...I still have my set of Rogers drums.

I would love to share a puro with you some day and talk about cigars and music.

        Would be a pleasure, mate.
Let me know when you're in the UK and not Mexico!

The band - and cigars - are deep pleasures, and ways to escape the tyranny of professional obligations, really.
That's my typically waffly way to say... they're fun.

Hey love the John Mayer track
I'm going to play it to my 9 year old who is learning the drums, he's always looking for a new groove and this one's right up his street.

I wasn't up on JM, I'm going to search him out.
          Thanks Teech!

It would seem logical - for a band from East Kent - that it might mean East Kent One.

In reality, our singer just pulled the name out of his brain 24 years ago and it has stuck.

I've just completed three years on board.

                  Afternoon Bryan,

How many members are in the band as a matter of interest?

                      Co - I don't know.

Em - We play as seven, six or five according to the nature of the booking and member availability. Six out of seven of us play in other line-ups as well as this band.

Just curious...are you lads really unfamiliar with James Taylor? He has been a giant up in the US of A since the 70s, and maybe even the 60s, mostly folk/rock genre. One of his first giant hits was Sweet Baby James and he wrote a wonderful song about my beloved state of mind - Mexico. I'd sing a few bar if I knew how to post it.

                          Get crooning, TJ.

JT is well-known here. This is quite a horizontal stoner-esque choice for us, but we prepare stuff that we like increasingly, rather than what we maybe should prepare for the dance floor.

Local showbiz choices are such a dilemma at times, possum.

If I'm out playing very regularly, I want variety and not to play the same old stuff. I dep occasionally with other bands at present, and that's just fine as it keeps me learning and on my toes. It's usually great fun. Sometimes it's not!

I do hate getting bored with anything in life.

I'm on a Musical Composition Course today - not at work - that I think is going to be an absolute hoot!
