I was thrown out of my parents house a few years back on Christmas day because we decided to talk about Brexit. Didn't speak to my step Dad for 6 months!

Wow, that was bad, I assume your relationship with your step father wasn't great before hand? Must have ruined the day for your mother though, hope things are better these days. Having grandchildren usually plasters over the cracks.

OK. You win. Hope things are better.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...
I guess one tradition I have is that I seem to have worked 60-70% of Christmas's since I joined up at 18yo (had that one off as I was still in training). When I am working my wife & daughter like to check into a London hotel & spend a quiet day there & then walk through the almost empty streets of London after lunch. If I am onboard I don't do any 'work' apart from seeing any patients that manage to find me. I try & smoke at least 3 cigars, which is more than at home where I'll only get time for one.
If I am home I go Midnight mass & the morning service. Then on to to my Sister's for the day, with my wife & daughter; joined by my mother, my bro-in-law's mother, father & uncle. Bro' does all the cooking every yr. so I bring all the wine & a bottle or port & smokes.
Nephew goes beating for the shooting on Boxing day & I go fishing. New Yr is a non event with us, this time, we'll leave UK on 30th (missing the queues that will be there after NY & just be the two of us in Antwerp, celebrating CET NY & then GMT NY.
