Hi,
I'm after some information about some cigars that I bought from a trip to Cuba in 2004/5.
I bought a box of ten romeo y julieta no.3 cigars in tubes and just wondered whether they would be of any value.

Hi,

The biggest question as far as value is how have they been stored? As they’re Tubos it’s a bit less important but it’s been 15 years so all depends on the condition now.

I wouldn’t expect they’re worth a large amount but depends on what you’re expecting. UK retail looks about £130, but selling them on the second hand market would likely be half that.

...... Retail are £130, but 18/19/20 codes .... those are 04/05..... if they are kept right they worth more than retail .... 15 y old Cuban .. any cigar auction will sell them for more than retail .

Nope, much as we all wish cigars would appreciate like that they don’t in the real world. Admittedly I was talking prices you’d see them sold at forums and other online options, auction values can bring in other types of buyers.

To gain any noticeable value especially compared to U.K. retail they need to be something special or at least a highly lauded smoke.

Having a quick scan retail £130, looking at auctions a box did sell for £130 but it was from 1990 so at 30 years they’re worth uk retail second hand. This says more about U.K. retail price and tax than much else but expecting these cigars to be worth a lot is unrealistic.

You are probably right, i am still new in that game. But i have been on some auctions and i think i saw some of those selling for close to retail price, thats why i leave the comment. That auction with 1990s RyJ been sold on cgars auction not long ago. Also those from 1990s are slightly different from 2004-5 ... usually machine made cigars are slightly cheaper than Hand rolled ones.
