Well nearly everyone seems to be moaning about the snow!, for me its the best ever, i now walk off my veranda into 2 feet of snow and if you find a drift its over 8 feet tall. I took my quad boke out today and for the first time ever i managed to do a double 360 in one go adrenlin rush or what haha, i dont advise taking a 4*4 even with a huge bull bar on the front offroading in this weather lol.
Panto just to let you know, your boss cant clain it as you taking a holiday.I`m an owner of a substantial business now with a few employees and according to my paperwork it can be classed as a sick day, what would your boss call a day you had to take off if your partner or parents were badly injured in an accident? that certainly cant be called a holiday for sure!!!!Chill out and enjoy a good cuban when you can

I've just spoken to my boss (H&S coordinator) and our union rep, and they are of the opinion that you have no legal standing to back you up, as the weather is an 'Act of God'. If your workplace advise against coming in, that's a different matter, but you seem to be on shaky ground as it's you making the decision whether you come in or not. SC, what paperwork have you got that says you can't? I couldn't see anything in any of the safety acts or regs that could be applied that way-is it in employment law?
You could of course go on the angle that if you injure yourself getting there, it will cost him a hell of a lot more in sick pay and lost productivity than one day sick because you couldn't get in.
The snow is getting a lot heavier in Cardiff-my parents claim they are in a blizzard. I'm actually getting concerned about whether I will be able to get home tonight!
