I rarely type words of encouragement as it goes against my cherished image of being a total ass-hole to everybody but I will make an exception here.

Good luck with the job hunting. I was out of a "real" job for two years and the one I am now doing (started a month ago) is not rock solid yet. Financial IT was not a good thing to be in during a financial crises especially with a medical issue in the background.

My real mistake was one you appear to be avoiding. I kept up, and even upgraded my lifestyle while out of work. Lots of meetings with old and new friends. Cigars, booze, coffee machines and a car (old, nothing fancy) all out of life savings which vanished in short order. Now I am working all I can see is the debt I have to service before I can have any fun again. Avoid that at all costs, it sounds like you are. You must be a stronger character than I to walk away from cigars. I stopped collecting good drink and dvd's in short order, I was not totally mad but the cigars and gadgets remained a constant. I filled my time with that and the gym. It served as a distraction from the loss of self respect and never ending job hunting. Some of the guys on here gave a helping hand also and for that I remain deeply grateful and a little shamed.

Again good luck, we all need it now and again, except the French, no good luck for them please.

      T.

Celcis, I can only imagine what you're going though.

I work in the construction industry and although I've lucked out personally as far as employment is concerned, I know waaaaay too many people who have lost their job in the last couple of years.

Just wanted to wish you all the best with the job hunting.

Really sorry to be reading this Mike. My humi's are more allotment sized but I see no harm in following Ron and Roks example and having a wee snoot through too.

In the meantime I really hope things look-up and that you're soon back with us.
