Finally, and a long time behind schedule, the Savoy's re-opening date has been confirmed as October 10th this year. Reservations open from August 10th (one week away...).
One addition to the hotel which I really like the look of is the Beaufort Bar:
Dark and moody, serving champagne (by the glass) with a cabaret stage. Sounds like the perfect spot to light up a double corona and forget about the world. Oh, wait a second... Bloody catch-all legislation...
I'm not sure at the moment if there is any outdoor terrace to speak of for cigar aficionados - I know that the river restaurant opens up onto the Thames, but not if there is an outdoor area. I'll see if I can find out.
One thing's for sure, it won't be the excellent value it was before closing for refurbishment back in 2007. Back then I managed to get a room for ?110 (without using Fairmont's Great-Rates, Great-Dates).
