It's come to my attention that a certain someone believes I'm profiting from the donations. And has posted on his site something to that effect. Even going as far as mentioning our hosts, A2 hosting and their costs.
This is misinformation. The $5 package a month (as you'd expect) is not sufficient for us, in fact we were kicked off of it when we first started out, when no donations were asked for. Since then, we moved to dedicated hosting, which if you check out the link, costs a lot more.
For the last few months CGars has advertised on the forum and this has covered the majority of hosting costs. However, in July I wanted to upgrade the forum to the latest version - costing about ?150-175, so Nic and I asked for donations.
I get maybe 5-10 donations a month of around ?5 each. So we've only just got the amount we needed for that upgrade. You'll notice I didn't ask for donations since that date, knowing full well we'd have the money after a few months.
No-one is profitting here, no-one has any inclination to do so, I've not covered my costs in entirety but sufficiently enough to not leave me massively out of pocket - thank you, I appreciate it. I think it brings a sense of community and join-ownership.
We'll always listen to suggestions, though you know the things that are always going to be prohibited - that I'm afraid is the only non-negotiable - because it only affects mods.
I hope that clears that up. Any excess in donations in the upcoming months, will be used for purchasing prizes etc for competitions.
Btw Nic Wing has access to the account incase something happens to me/for when I go on holiday. He can back this all up.
By the way, due to this slander, and other derogatory remarks over a period of time the person has been banned (though he can't quite work out why...!) It's not the sort of crap we want on here and I really can't be assed with all.
I'd like to say that from sites I've run I fully understand that you won't be making any form of profit from the amount gathered by donations, but even if you did I personally have no problem with that anyway due to the amount of work that goes into running a site and also for offering it in the first place They are after all donations and not a subscription.

deano i know from the botl i speak to appreciate the work you have put into this forum,i dont think you should have to justify yourself, just tell them to f..k off and let the rest of us get on with it
