Well, England played badly, again (except for James, again). The formation was wrong, again. The officials were a joke, but probably made no difference overall. Fabio should go sooner rather than later (and sod his contract pay-off). Germany played well and showed good creative football that simply outclassed England on all levels, so they deserved to win.

So, the question is now who to support in the tournament? Very often in domestic cups when my team gets knocked out I then support the team who beat us, and if they get knocked out later I support the ones who did that. It provides a bit of continuity and excitment in terms of staying interested in the competition. But can I do that with Germany? Hmm, that's not easy! And I like Argentina, well specifically Maradona simply because for all his many faults (and the fricken obvious fault in '86) you can't help but admire his passion, just as you couldn't help but admire his skill (when he wasn't hand-balling!) as a player - in fact he was probably the best player of that generation. Hmm, I need to think about this

Look at it this way, el Perro....now the lads have more time to play with their blu-balls!
        Objection Senor American!!!

Do you see my point?.......there is a distinction to be made.

The team playing (or not) in the World Cup was England, NOT the UK.

I can see you being confused, what with the amount of union flags, the singing of "Rule Britannia" and "GSTQ" along with the theme from "The Great Escape." A person who didn't know football would be hard pushed to know who the England supporters actually supported.

I sat in the garden and had a BBQ, a few beers and didn't watch it because I knew it would just spoil a good day.
              I was right!
