Thanks for the tip! I've never been to Cyprus. I guess I must have got snobby in my old age and a little too used to international jaunts to 5 star deals that my friend organise for me teehehehe.

If you don't want the 'package' feel you could try Pissouri, which was (when I visited) a sleepy little seaside village, with some trad architecture, a stunning beach, a the best Meze I've ever had in my life. Not sure what it's like now, they were building a couple of new hotels when I was there this time in '05. It's still pretty local to Paphos, and it's easy to get to other small villages like Episkopi and Erimi.
