  • The Thanet Album

This was posted on YouTube and Facebook about the area I work in.

No white leather chairs opposite a palace here.
    No Cain launch.

It's very cutting about chavdom and the lack of hope.
I work with some of all that.

Spookiest thing was to see myself in the video.
    The critique makes total sense.

    Lyrics are very, very good.

The local council is trying to have it banned, this vid.
I just found out a muso I have played with made the thing.

    Funny old muso mindset, hey.

    You're not alone.
Wakefield used to be a lovely little market town.
The market has nearly gone, half the shops are shut or crap chain cafes or poundshops with hordes of chavs.Sometimes, if I thought about it I could get fed-up
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

So who was it that opened the art gallery, interesting lyric, blank screen. I am intrigued.

Can't imagine why the council want to get it banned, but bet they won't succeed, he he!!

Bit tough on EK1, they only played in Broadstairs twice a year I thought!!

That was touching . From what I gathered its the same all over the world.
The rich get to dance while the poor pays the band !
Piss on us as long as they get wealthy
and then shit on u to keep u there !

Is that you in the vid Bryan, sitting in a line with a bunch of others? (at 1:41)

I liked the original, though i am an Alicia Keys fan boy.

I also like this version of the song very much. it gives a micro unreserved take of the depravation thats affected the area in recent times and sadly replicated all over the country.

That's a great vid, was that Dreamland on fire? (a complete accident of course! wink!)

Shame really, it used to be a magically wonderland of rock shops, saucy postcards, spending all my pocket money in pleasurama for me on the 70's.
Now days another place just further along I find Herne Bay sea front one of the most depressing places on the coast.
Second only to walton on the naze.

I live just down the coast in Deal and all the seaside resorts in the area are a bit drab. Somehow my town also gains a Guardian reader "middle class" acceptability because there are some quaint (but completely useless) shops selling old china and stuff.

Down here to the SE of London suffers greatly because of the cultural dominance of... London. Poor theatre, music, arts, infrastructure... because all is supposedly in reach in London.

That is me in the clip, Kam.

And, Nic. We used to play the pub length in Broadstairs endlessly during points of my tenure. Fri, Sat, Sun in The Bradstow Mill, The Rose, The Dolphin (aka broken nose city). Then the next week we'd do two on the strip. Then one. Then three. It was actually a depressing thing to do in any band. Especially when the band is as talented, and as locally Big Fish, as that.

I know the YouTube clip is a bit parochial to put on here, but I was gobsmacked when I saw this thing the other day to see that they'd used my old band in the Deja Vu section. It's true because we got recommended bookings, and the other bands couldn't get near.

I've got out of that by spending most Sunday afternoons in RRRAAAWWWKKK now. I also chug a phat phallic Bolivar and feel Cock Of The Walk as the chaps tug on supplemented roll ups around the parked cars.

I'm very good. I've still never done that. I stick to my own brown. I know how to behave. I belong.. yet I am... apart...

Doing your own music is so much more satisfying than knocking out sugary copies of My Girl by The Temptations three nights a week.

              It's liberty, man.

I might have heard something, from someone, somewhere maybe about an insurance scam, the same bloke also owned pleasurama in ramsgate and the old casino opposite which strangely both had fires too.

I wonder how many towns across the western world could make the same video?

Very sad and I suspect we are going to see far more over the next 5 years

Walton on the Naze!!!!! don't get me started, if God wants to give the World an enema that's exactly where the tube is going. And Clacton runs it pretty close, and stuck between them is the little bit of heaven that is Frinton on Sea...
