That is very good. The actual situation on the other hand is very very worrying, and I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like for the people affected, both directly and indirectly. 50,000 barrels of crude oil a day pumped into the open seas is too massive to even contemplate. Whats worse is that they say it will have to go on for a few months at least.

Some people do have a lot of time of their hands......

The bit about this oil spill that bothers me is, while yes it is a disaster, it is nothing compared to the estimated 13 million barrels of oil spilled in the Niger Delta over the past number of years. Nobody seems interested in reporting that though. I wonder why?

I was interested to watch the good piece about the human effect of the spills in the Niger Delta when Ross Kemp recorded his 'In Search of Pirates' series for Sky. As you say Paulie, it's so badly reported that this interest documentary (rather than any news programme) is the only thing I have seen about it.

Gotta love a parody. But like others said, it's a real problem that needs real solutions.

              This might help

All true and I have to say I find the Niger Delta story even more worrying because the locals don't get the full benefit of the huge wealth being taken from them and the terrible environmental damage being done to their land, but even more because they don't all drive around in gas guzzling four by fours complaining about a problem which they have really caused by their total lack of any real environmental policy.

Think of all of the recent events driven by the American economy's huge craving for oil and oil based products:
                - Kuwait
                - The Gulf war
                - The ongoing problems in Iraq
                etc etc

Totally true, though you have to add the various forms of complicity of most nations in those very wars. We should probably add to this list such things as clothing, diamonds, coffee, and chocolate, to name a few.
