I got my name from what Georges Bataille:

made from this painting in the lascaux caves:

in his book 'the tears of eros'

He argued these were the first works of art by man. The man above who had mortally wounded the animal, it's guts exploding out of it and consequently fell castrate beside the animal in delirium, the man with a bird's head and erection. It's a stunning picture! Heady and powerful like a Dali!

My favourite of his books is:

but naming myself after that is ever so slightly too wanky, even for me!

I also quite like the french, but now like spain even more, i'd like to be renamed duende or after lorca's 'jungle of blood'!

I read a bit of that book--difficult stuff, and I have a Ph.D. in continental philosophy! Bataille is definitely a brilliant whack-job. Loved Story of the Eye.

play on my own name Steve KennedY hence SKY, used mainly in online games as a variation, like skyhigh, skyblue, skyscraper, nightsky but most people online just call me Sky.

ah yeah! really liked story of the eye. The bull fight and also the final scene with the priest... wonderful hysterical stuff

Eroticism is another great bataille read. incredible insight into the links between sex and death, right down my street!

Comes from lazily setting up my bass with the tuning D-E-A-D to avoid having to retune when switching between songs in an old band's sets. Bass changed to Base when it came to write it down for a reason now forgotten to posterity.

I chose mine when joining the previous forum. I needed a cigar type name & my first name is Simon; luckily Boli's are one of my fav brands so I was happy to adopt my new personna, as South America's greatest hero.
I knew I had chosen a winner when about to attend my first herf, Adeuk (recently joined member on UKFC) mentioned in Davidoff's, that they were expecting Simon Bolivar to turn up shortly & got a rather surprising look from the staff
Did I ever mention I have my own cafe in Antwerp? See attached photo. The other one was taken that first herf in side the Blue Posts.

A character from a book I use to read when I was young. Altered the spelling to be that bit unique many years ago, and just happened to have gotten use to spelling it that way from then on.

As a rugby player, up till my mid 30's I was known affectionately as the Bear. This was both because then I was fit and strong but also unpredictable and "allegedly" fierce (only ever sent off twice since 16 years old). This would have been my first choice but for the following.
I retired gracefully at 35 but possibly unwisely & ungracefully, returned to the fray at 45. Since then I have unfairly, though truthfully I suppose, had a name change from "the bear" to "barely there". Apparently this is as a result of me thoughtlessly deciding that, solely in order to give the up and coming stars a chance and absolutely nothing to do with my svelte, muscular, racing snake physique and olympian strength and fitness levels, I should only play a maximum of 40 minutes per game though with a preference that 20 minutes would probably be enough for me to inflict sufficient damage (usually to myself).

As such, I opted for Lionhound as we own and breed Rhodesian Ridgebacks which were originally bred for hunting lions.
