  • Happy New Year To All

I'm out with the band tonight playing a nice little earner. This time it's all about the cash - lol - and I'll probably divert some of the takings into more cigars as I am so addicted to quality stogies now I don't believe it.

Happy New Year to one and all who pass by here.

I want to thank Dale / CoIV for the glorious PUNCH RARE COROJO for my 50th birthday which I'm enjoying even as I write. I will upload a snap or two as I am going to enter for YouPorn Mr Cohiba UK Cigar Cowboy Stud Hunk Big Pack quite soon and am just working on my self-control and delaying tactics before hitting my Plan B route to stardom after the illustrious local-level Mustang Sally stage career to date.

Dale - A word about your cigar before the stogie porn-pic felch.

Love it! Creamy. Chocolate-y taste. Nice full drifts of smoke. I have fallen head over heels with PUNCH as a make. They smell complex and rich, and ALL passers-by through my various smoke-spaces say without fail that "That cigar smells GORGEOUS" whenever I am smoking a PUNCH.

I think I'm smoking the longest cigar I've ever smoked, by the way! This is a lengthy, long, long cigar - and I'm well cigar-drugged with it, I can tell you. It's making me feel quite sleepy. I've lit it as soon as my missus left for work just after eight because I'm off setting up our stage stuff for our gig tonight quite soon. I also wanted to get a fabulous one in, and this is a great one. Sincere thanks.

I got to enjoy it eleven days later than planned, but no worries. Delays are good, as they emailed me earlier in the cowboy blockbuster application pack from YouPorn.

Anyway, the dressing gown and pyjamas are for stage work. Feel privileged.

Best wishes for the New Year to one and all.
And PLEASE keep posting nonsense in 2009!

    Bryan

I'll be lining my pockets too Bryan...

And then looking forward to a houseful of drunk retards when I get home at 2 in the morning (we'll actually be off stage by 11.30 which is very civilised for NYE) . One of my palls is pregnant so she'll have to stand out in the garden so I can smoke, either that or accept the baby will be brain damaged (obviously I'm joking... I'll make sure she's out in the garden. lol)... possibly a good old D4 or a Monte 2 tonight.

Happy New Year to you all... I hope the lack of money means we'll all appreciate the better things in life like friends and love.

I can't say I'm envious about the idea of working NYE but it must be a great atmosphere to play a gig somewhere on NYE!! I shall be at a house party at my uncle's tonight; partying the night away!!

Happy New Year to everyone - hope you have a fantastic evening, and a brilliant 2009!!

Drew - Offstage by 11.30pm??? How the fuck?...

I'll be dishing out Auld Lang's Ayne and a conga or two by then. It's so Bad Butlins, but it lines the wallet with an easy bonus on nights like this.

I'll be joining you with a D4 I think. Yup. Haven't had one for a while, and she's fab so yes D4 yes D4 yes.

Mine will be circa 0200. I've been invited to a blues playing mate's wicked hush hush sensimilia drop-in in his garden vice shed in decadent downtown Sandwich, but I think I'll just cruise home from Ramsgate to Deal. Such is Rock's quiet comedown... and I don't fancy Muddy Waters R Us tonight.

Plus I have to keep my main squeeze sweet!

We had a great gig. We have a loyal following on our patch and people had paid ?55 to eat a great meal and then have us lol. (We have some obsessive fans. Very Alan Partridge. For another post). It went very well. It was fun - and then they give you a tidy sum for that fun. Excellent!

            Cigar story.

I cut my D4, fired it up in the car (desperate for pleasure). I intended to smoke it for the 30 minute journey and let it die to be re-lit for the journey home. (Bad - I know - but I do do that sometimes).

Anyway, I arrived at the hotel a little early and was enjoying my cigar so much I decided to keep it going whilst I walked around the hotel gardens and around the car park.

I have to tell you (for no reason) that the novelist I enjoyed studying in French most of all is Gustave Flaubert who wrote Madame Bovary (amongst others). I love his writing, and his diaries are very interesting. He lived in the 19th Century and was a huge cigar man. He would write madly and walk round his garden near Rouen in France smoking cigars to get his thoughts going again. In his diaries, he describes having intercourse without taking his cigar out of his mouth. I really love the guy.

Anyway... When I get to walk round a park or some beautiful gardens whilst enjoying a cigar - or along the promenade by the Channel here at Deal - I like to think I'm Gustave Flaubert.

            Back to the car park.

I was walking around in classic man with cigar mode by this hotel when I was called over by two of my bandmates who had had a nap in their car. They were full of KFC because they'd picked up a bargain bucket on the way to the gig.

They asked me to get in the car, and I said I couldn't because I was smoking a rather fine Partagas and they wouldn't like it.

Wrong. They had picked up the cigar waft in their car and thought it would probably be me.

Thing is - and this is why I'm writing - one smokes cigarettes, and the other is a non-smoker.

They loved the aroma of the D4 so much they insisted I stayed with them and smoked it to the end, and they even shut the car windows because they wanted to be enfumed completely!

When I went for a quiet leak in the dark under some trees in the grounds with the D4 still alive, I could here guests quite a distance away saying "Mmmm... Can you smell that gorgeous cigar? It's wonderful!".

One man came over and looked at it - the cigar, I mean - and we had a man-to-man cigar talk. I love that.

Christ knows why I'm writing this down. It's just that I adore this habit, and writing about it has convinced me I need to polish off another Punch before I head to bed.

Hope everyone had a great celebration tonight.

Isnt it great when you get chating to a stranger through cigars? the only negitive Ihave ever had is when some twat told me I was smoking it wrong... yes I know there is a way your meat to light them and all but sometimes it doesnt work out and I think its bad form to point that out to a fellow smoker.. maybe another thread is in order on the subject...
