What is the best tasting band you have ever smoked?

I was recently having a discussion with a friend about how far down the cigar you could smoke and he said that he had smoked a cigar all the way to the nub without taking the band off and that actually the band had tasted pretty good.

Does anyone know if particular flavoured inks are used or if there is anything harmful in the inks which might be harmful to ones health, (that Behike band looks pretty toxic)

With our old friend LeeNubster up to his usual tricks Nubwise and burning those bands on a regular basis I think this is a matter for some serious and thoughtful review.

What is the best tasting band you have ever smoked?

I often smoke the band, as is normal, and your friend is right- they add that extra dynamic at the end and are pretty darn tasty! Those who know me know that I am a fan of the bands on bolivar, partagas and ramon allones. The bands on cohiba taste to metallic for me. Never been a cohiba guy- for just that reason!

I didn't even know the banding was for smoking! I always used it as a safety to prevent me from smoking too much of the nub and burning my fingers! Will have to try it the next time I smoke a cigar!

Have to say I have never even considered "smoking the band". I don't think I would even try, I usually take them off after a few minutes.

Montecristo bands are the best, you really get that "inky" flavour that coats your mouth similar to chewing a biro til it bursts! I also eat the ash afterwords!

I think the Ink is a vegetable compound which mite explain you friends enjoyment of smoking the bands. Where is SeanP when you need him? He could tell us I'm sure if he doesn't know he could research and Tell us.
