May I just say (sorry USA... It will mean nothing) that David Dimbleby - unless he has reformed - is a Havana man. That's really encouraging.

Cigars - Thinking and The First Toke

      Yes
Megaly stressful day, sat at the end in green park with ryj cazadores and it settled me completely. Better than booze or drugs for writing songs. Some don't quite hit the spot but if the situation is right they can be a catalyst for GOOD shit!

At the end of a long day a cigar helps me unwind, helps me switch off. At the start of a long day the cigar helps focus my mind... everything form the best bits to the worst bits of my job (writing to accounts) is easier to focus on through a cloud of smoke.

I had a cigar this morning then wandered up town with my missus.
She spent ages in shops. I sat on a bench and watched the world go by in a mild nicotine buzz. I was seriously considering going to the baccy shop and buying a cheapy when she turned up. Damn!

For me it depends on the reason that I decide to have a cigar. Sometimes they do help me relax and think clearly at the start of a day. At the end of a day they also help me unwind.

I do enjoy sitting in the sun with a drink and a book while enjoying a fine cuban.

I do think that the person's state of mind is important to how they enjoy and what they get out of a cigar at any given time.

I'm not into drinking heavily. I've never smoked dope. I haven't done any other drugs. I smoked 5 Marlboros a day for about a year in my 20s. Because of the pleasure from a fine cigar, I don't feel any desire at all to try any other form of escape. Good cigars are it.

I'm the same Brian, I haven't had an alcoholic drink since 2008, doesn't seem to interest me anymore. I have never smoked cigarettes, or taken drugs. Cigars are small rolled up bundles of satisfaction for me

The cigar experience begins before I even think about lighting up. The paraphernalia and care are relaxing and interesting hobbies in themselves.

However, for me a cigar is an unwinding mechanism. An hour to myself, preferably in the garden, or overlooking some water, just to relax and take everything in.

As for the first toke - if it's good, it's phenomenal! I love a great first draw.

yeah the first draw sets it all off. thats why i love upmanns, they can have one of the best first draws, just ahead of partagas.

state of mind makes a cigar, and state of mind is something you cant fake. just like a good party, or having a good time... you cant pre-meditate it, it has to come before thought

                        .

Same here, senor Pawpaw. A fine puro on a balmy, sunny day always enhances the activities you noted... but I stay away from those that detract from the pleasure of the puro, such as anything involving work.

After all...isn't the puro the main event?

I like to juggle my balls while I enjoy TJ's finest puros.

(Hurumph!) I bet you do, virgin boy....just keep 'em away from me!

                              You guys have inspired me.
I'm off to have a quiet, contemplative moment or 60 with a fine Cuban Agricultural Product. (CAP? for those in the know).
